Journey to Surrogacy - 1 in 5,000

At the age of 16, I was given a diagnosis that would forever change my life.  Something only 1 in 5,000 women are born with: MRKH.  Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser Syndrome is the official name.  What does this even mean?  It means I was born with fully functioning ovaries but unfortunately do not have a uterus and therefore cannot carry my own children.

Having always loved kids, been an avid neighborhood babysitter, teaching swim lessons to toddlers, and working 2 full summers as a Day Camp Counselor and Assistant Director, I knew that being a Mom would always be my heart's desire.  During my senior year of high school, I made it my life goal to do whatever I had to do to make my dream of becoming a Mom a reality and so the adventure began.  

While in college, I worked 3 jobs while attending school full time and it was the only time I made straight A's.  I always knew that if I wanted this, I would have to work my butt off to get it.  And so I did.  

I met my husband, Kenny, about 8 years ago and the day he told me he would rather have me AND go through this journey with me, than to never have me at all, was the day I knew he was The One.  We have now been married for over 3 years.  He too wants nothing more than to be a parent.

I now work a full time job in the beverage industry while also running a (basically) full time business on the side with LuLaRoe clothing.  My husband takes any chance he can to work overtime, makes our dinner every night, takes care of the dogs and the house all so that I can run my business after we both get home from a full day of work.  We have both now been doing this for almost a year.  

After 2 years of searching, my husband and I have found a potential surrogate and are so close to making this dream come true.  What's holding us back?  The finances.   Regardless of our efforts to do this along and not ask for help, some surprises have come up along the way. We are in a good place to start our journey, as we have been able to get through IVF and the initial steps of finding and screening a potential surrogate BUT sadly, although this is a medical condition I was born with, insurance does not cover the cost of any stage of surrogacy.  It's expensive and we need help.  Any and all donations, no matter how small or large, are so VERY MUCH APPRECIATED and would help us to pay bills and medical costs along the way.  Please help us to give our embryos this sweet thing called LIFE.  We will be forever grateful for you contribution towards creating  a family.  <3
