Broad Channel Fire Dept
I decided to raise money specifically for the
Broad Channel Fire Department where my friend Tommy's brother-in-law is the fire chief. Tommy and Sue are dear friends at UNIS and I want to do more to help them.
I watched my kids and their closest friends host a lemonade
stand right after Hurricane Sandy and then hand deliver the $163 they made into the
hands of the Broad Channel Fire Department.
In that moment, I thought we could further the kids' incredible effort and wanted to see if we could raise more. So last month, a good friend inspired me to do 15 yoga classes in 5 days (my kind of marathon) and I decided to see if we could use it to generate more funds from friends. The fundraising now continues with its own momentum and I am hoping it will raise enough money for supplies and basic needs for these people who do so much
for others. The fire department consists of volunteers who give of themselves to others. They lost everything and they need to rebuild.
