New Yorkers helping New Yorkers

Hi fellow New Yorkers! As I sit in my cold apartment with no heat, power or much gas in my car to do anything other than go to work.. I feel miserable...however I am reminded how lucky I am to have an apartment to sit in under the covers with my husband and dog SAFELY! Many of us have been experiencing some modern day inconveniences, however there are a ton of New Yorkers who are experiencing much worse and will need help for months to come.

I met a very cool woman in my town this week that has been going from disaster site to disaster site each day; she has been collecting supplies and delivering them to areas that need them the most.  She has been able to see what is still needed and what supplies are just not necessary at this point in the recovery.  What I would like to do is collect funds for the rest of the work week, communicate with her about what's needed most by the weekend, go shopping for these items and deliver.  I have also been on emails of friends who either themselves or their friends have been devastated. I feel we can work together to collect funds and try to help as many New Yorkers as possible.
