GRASSROOTS HURRICANE RELIEF: OH, SANDY!

We're a determined group of Brooklyn residents, and we're organizing a grassroots donation campaign to benefit New York City's hardest hit areas. After looking around for volunteer opportunities, it seems that what the people of the Rockaways and Breezy Point and Staten Island and Red Hook really need is supplies and food, and we're going to do what we can to get them what they're asking for. So, we ask you to do what you can, and know that every dollar donated through this site will be personally carried by us to NYC businesses and spent on much needed supplies and food.  

For the next 24 hours (ending at 4pm Saturday) this site will be open for donations, in any amount.  At 4pm on Saturday, we will see how much we've raised and call around to the organizations and say "We have $xxx to spend on you.  What do you need RIGHT NOW?"   Then, we will shop and deliver the items with the help of our friends at the Full Circle Bar in Williamsburg, who have a truck! Your donation, into the hands of the beneficiary within 48 hours.  No red tape.

We'll keep everyone updated on what we've raised and what we're purchasing and who's getting it.
