From Bad To Worse: A Tale of Woe

Donation protected

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I'm here to tell you a tale of incredible woe and strength. Please read the whole thing. He deserves people to know how much he's suffered at the hands of fate.

My friend Archie is a phenomenal person. He will go to the ends of the earth for those he loves and cares for. He's done so much for so many people, even if it's just buying them their favorite candy bar when they're sad.

Archie has had a ROUGH past 6-ish years. After being laid off without proper grounds and a devastating divorce months later, he was forced to move in to his sister's detached garage with his two young sons (he is the primary caregiver for them.) Many rounds of being called a failure, and seeing his world collapse around him had a detrimental impact on his self-worth.

He lost most of his family to long distance moves and various deaths, He had to take on long-term care of his grandmother, for which he was repaid with an unreliable pittance, and about 1 hour short of enough to get insurance. Archie managed to scrape enough together to buy a very cheap, unreliable car, which was in and out of the shop constantly.

On top of this, his two boys were both diagnosed with autism, one of which experienced pretty severe abuse at the hands of the school staff/principal after many months of ignoring symptoms, diagnoses, and problems, while simultaneously trying to constantly suspend him for the tiniest infractions.

After several years of this repeated over and over, CPS calls for screaming children (who, remember, are autistic - par for the course there), a grandmother under his exclusive care going through periods beyond a level of care he is equipped to handle, unreliable funding, special ed schooling problems, the whole bit... He finally gets a car. A decent car! A car that doesn't threaten to kill itself every other day. Things are looking up a tiny bit!

Then it hits: An unknown medical condition no one knew he had, discovered by pain and vomitting mass quantities of blood. Spends a month in the hospital (remember how he's the primary custodian of the boys? Yeah). Once that's over with, the world starts crashing in again...
-Unknown problem with ankle, now using a cane and walker to get around.
-Children starting to understand the world, blame him for the divorce he didn't want.
-Car needs new transmission, entire tax refund went to that.
-Oldest son developing crippling anxiety and fear of the things he's always loved.

And now? His car was stolen, discovered as they left the house for one son's vital doctor appointment, with practically no chance of recovery (It was a Honda Civic). Inside were the boys' disney infity games and figures, their prized monopoly game, the food Archie had just purchased for his children... All things that were incredibly important to the boys and Archie.

So this guy, Archie. He's an amazing person. He deserves all the good this world can offer. But he is the modern day equivalent of Job. He has everything going wrong that can go wrong. He has been shoved into a cramped, dank, deep hole in the ground without a ladder.

This economy is rebuilding, but it is still so, so bad. We all know and feel this every day. But if you have ANY compassion, please consider donating even a few dollars to this man. If anyone deserves it, he does. His children do. They deserve something going right for a change.
