First and foremost, I pray that this finds you well and blessed. My name is Brittany Gwynn and I have been presented with an amazing opportunity that I would like to share with you.
For many years I have felt a very specific calling to go into the field of overseas missions. This is a call that has gotten stronger and more pointed over time and eventually led me to Iris Ministries. Iris Ministries is a missionary movement that was founded in 1980 by Heidi and Rolland Baker. Over the last 30 years the Bakers and their team have participated in foreign missions all over the world! In the early 90's they took over a dilapidated and neglected orphanage in Mozambique with 80 children and felt very strongly that this place was where God was leading them to establish themselves. Through many trials and hardships, struggles with the locals and government alike and much spiritual warfare Iris Ministries has become the most influential voice in the Mozambican revival and one of the foremost organizations in the global missions field with bases in 19 countries spread over every continent!
Iris pastors have seen hundreds of moves of the spirit and hundreds of thousands of people come to know Christ in the most forgotten corners of the world since its inception.
In 2005, Iris Ministries began their Harvest School of Missions. The purpose of this school is to provide in-the-field training and spirit led teaching for individuals and families who have a clear call to missions work.The Harvest School receives thousands of applications from all over the world for each session and prayerfully considers each applicant before offering invitations to roughly 200 students. Over the last 8 years the school has had hundreds of students graduate, many going on to be full time missionaries at Iris and other organizations. As of July 3, 2013 I have been accepted to train at this school for their October-December 2013 session!
This is an honor and a privilege I can't even begin to explain; getting accepted into this school was entirely God. However, in order to get to the school I am going to need a little help. The tuition for the 3 month program is $2,800.00. In addition to that; international airfare which averages about $2,500.00, a long list of items I will need to take with me, travel related medical costs, additional living expenses not covered by the school and the opportunity to go on an extended outreach trip after graduation which could cost anywhere from $500.00 to $1,000.00! The total expenses will be close to $8,500.00. Because of this, the financial support of my friends, family and community will be integral to my ability to participate in this life-changing experience. With that being said, I am sincerely asking for contributions of any amount that God leads you to give and thank you with my whole heart in advance for your contribution and prayers.
