1Day500k for Vanclaron CIC

Donation protected
This weekend, my seven housemates and I will be cycling 500km in a 24 hour period to raise money for Vanclaron CIC. Each of us will have a 3 hour time slot in which we have to cycle 62.5km on an indoor spinning bike, kindly supplied to us by David Ross Sports Village.

Vanclaron is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which aims to provide culturally competent and faith sensitive, non-clinical health and wellbeing support to individuals from vulnerable and marginalised communities (such as people from the BAME community, refugees and asylum seekers along with low socio-economic households) to take control of their mental health and overall well-being, which is often neglected due to cultural stigmas - especially during a time of intense financial uncertainty such as in this pandemic. We are thereby trying to break the perpetuating cycles of social and economic inequalities through generations within these vulnerable and marginalised communities.

Vanclaron runs a number of 1-2-1 and group support services such as Vanclaron’s CHATS (Community Health Awareness Training Services); a project by the community for the community. The money raised will go towards a number of these projects. To give an example, in Vanclaron's 'Art-Full Wellbeing' Project,  participants are encouraged to use art and their creative ideas as an emotional release, so as to improve wellbeing, break isolations by (virtually) connecting with each other and learning a new skill in line with the NHS’s 5 ways to wellbeing. Participants use a variety of mediums including music/song writing, creative writing, and special effects (SFX) make-up to bring their ideas to life. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vanclaron has had to stop face-to-face sessions. The aim, however, is to continue these group workshops virtually - especially since the demand for Vanclaron's services has drastically increased as a result of the pandemic. Many of the clients have no/limited access to digital devices or data, making them unable to receive our support virtually. We are therefore raising money to cover some of the costs of the co-ordination and delivery of these workshops and also to purchase smart devices and data to lend to clients so that they can participate in the online group workshop and access our digital support services.

All donations, no matter how 'small' they might seem, are hugely appreciated.

Thanks for your support,

The boys at 2 Church Avenue.
