Make it worthwhile.

My brother Robert, age 57, lives with an auto-immune condition that leaves him in extreme, constant fibro-myalgic pain and is slowly crushing his ability to breathe.  Two years ago he was laid off from his work as an industrial environmental consultant and now lives on a small disability income without medical insurance.  He won't be eligible for Medicaid until next year, and his medical bills are piling up.  We hope that loving friends and family can help Robert continue to get the ongoing medical care he needs in order to live and breathe and allow him to live independently in his small rental home as long as possible.

This rare form of rheumatoid arthritis is attacking his soft tissue, specifically his muscles and pleural cavity.  He has already lost two-thirds of one lung.  He has a surgically created hole in his side to help the now lungless cavity drain and heal, and has periodic fluid build-up in the remaining lung's lining,  This then needs draining and leaves more scar tissue, further reducing lung capacity

He has high medical expenses from doctors and specialists, very expensive meds, necessary procedures to allow him to continue breathing, and high costs for the medical supplies to daily remove and repack large amounts of gauze into his chest cavity - a procedure which will go on for a couple of more years until enough scar tissue forms inside the cavity.  He used to have Home Health Care for the wound care but has figured out how to do it himself.

Robert did get on one grant but that ran out, he's used up savings and 401K, already had to declare bancruptcy, has maxed out his credit cards on medical expenses, and figures that by January will not be able to afford staying in his tiny rental house any longer.

Nowhere to turn except to people who care.  Can you help?  Could you repost this or pass it on?
