190 Miles in a Month

Lily Arkwright took her own life after a time of feeling trapped due to coronavirus restrictions. She had never suffered hardship like this and for lil, it was too difficult. Lily was kind and funny and her sweet little smile could light up any room. I had the pleasure of being Lily’s friend for a couple years in college and whenever I was around her she never failed to make me laugh. She was so important to everyone who she met and she deserved so much more than this. 

after reading some touching words from her mother Annie in an article written in the Sunday Express newspaper, I have decided I want to do something to give back. It was expected that 95 Uni students die from suicide every year, but that statistic has almost doubled due to coronavirus restrictions. To raise awareness of these deeply saddening statistics I am going to walk/run 190 miles (the prediction of the number of young people’s suicides) in a month. I will be completing this from the 4th of January for 4 weeks until the 31st January and will be using my Instagram page @lydiaemorley to document my weekly progress.
