Suzanne Valentine Cancer Fund
Each trimester we at Love to Swim and Tumble School focus on one of our core values and try to "live it". This trimester our core value focus is Improve Lives-we understand that what we do makes a profound difference in the world. Some of the ways we intend to "live" this value is by collecting 2 tons of food for The San Antonio Food Bank and to increase our involvement in community events like health fairs and fundraiser runs for local schools.
The Improve Lives mission is even more poignant to us this year because one of our own staff members is suffering. Our Financial Manager, Suzanne Valentine, is fighting lymphoma. This cancer has come a year after a terrible, drawn out divorce. Not only has Suzanne had to spend huge amounts of money trying to get the court's orders upheld, still to no avail, but now she is faced with additional medical expenses adding up to roughly $1000 a month. It is important to note that Suzanne is a fighter. Her attitude and outlook on life is incredible. Her motto is "It is what it is." She doesn't waste time on self-pity choosing to focus on hope and action..
So far, Suzanne's treatments are working. But the stress of making ends meet, keeping up with her job and serving her daughter could work against her. We'd like to alleviate some of the financial stress by raising some money for her to help with her medical expenses.
