Jen's run to support Girls for Gender Equity

Dear friends and family,

As many of you know, I am training to run the New York City Marathon on November 4, 2012.

And because I believe there is no greater resource to New York City than strong, confident, vocal and active girls and young women, it is only fitting to dedicate my 2012 run to the 10-year anniversary and continued growth of an amazing organization called Girls for Gender Equity (GGE).

GGE is a grassroots, Brooklyn-based organization committed to the physical, psychological, social and economic development of girls and women. Through education, organizing and physical fitness, GGE encourages communities to remove barriers and create opportunities for girls and women to live self-determined lives (see www.ggenyc.org, for more information). 

Together, I am working with GGE to engage Brooklyn girls in the NYC marathon experience, the joy of running and the significance of sports in optimizing girls' health, growth and well being.
