Update 02/09/18

There’s an African proverb that states that ‘It Takes A Village’… well in our case we believe ‘It Takes A Herd’ … ‘A Herd Of Bison’ that is. We’re calling all Bison (Administrators, Faculty, Alumni, Undergrads, Friends and Family) across the country to support our #BlackPantherChallenge, Howard University Bison Edition.

The #BlackPantherChallenge is an initiative launched by Frederick Joseph to raise money to take children from Harlem to see Black Panther in theaters, according to the Huffington Post. He’s since challenged others nationwide to join in and start GoFundMe campaigns in their communities, so more kids can ‘see themselves as heroes too,’ according Joseph. ‘The release of Marvel's film the "Black Panther" is a rare opportunity for young students (primarily of color) to see a Black major cinematic and comic book character come to life. This representation is truly fundamental for young people, especially those who are often underserved, unprivileged, and marginalized both nationally and globally,’ said Joseph; and we here at Last Bison Standing could not agree more.

With your contribution, we can help bring a life changing experience into the lives of very deserving children. We can also support our very own, Chadwick Boseman (c/o 2000), as he headlines what looks to be one of highest grossing superhero movie openings ever.

*** OUR INITIATIVE SHOULD NOT BE MISTAKEN FOR AN OFFICIAL HOWARD UNIVERSITY CAMPAIGN ***  This Campaign was started by BISON for BISON.  All Student Organizations, Sponsors, Donors, Friends of The Community,  Committee Members, and Recipients are Howard Undergrads and Alumni in an effort to help our own.

 THE BACKGROUND:

Aaron Bonner Scholars is a program established under The Aaron Bonner Foundation  established on July 02, 2010. Aaron Bonner was a Howard University Student who lost is battle to cancer while pursuing his undergraduate degree. In his honor, the Foundation was established to assist incoming freshman with various needs while matriculating through Howard University. Each year Aaron Bonner Scholars are required to launch a campaign that benefits both Howard and the community at large.

Last Bison Standing , established April 12, 2014  www.lastbisonstanding.com is a charitable organization comprised of Howard University undergraduates and alumni. The mission of LBS is to raise money for different initiatives through sponsorships, photography, and the sell of custom/vintage Apparel.

Providing Gifts Organization (PGO) www.providinggifts.org was established by two mothers desiring initially to teach their children the benefits of giving and not just receiving. As a unit it is our desire to do more. Two of the co-founders have had a first hand experience with financial hardship and homelessness. Due to this, it is their passion to make a difference in the lives of those affected by low to no income. PGO is a nonprofit that exists primarily to address the issues of homelessness and has done so in Detroit and Washington, D.C. We have been fortunate to serve hundreds thus far, providing food, clothes, shoes, toiletries and informational resources.
