18 Years, 40 Surgeries: Shaun's Story

Donation protected
My husband is going in for surgery on the 7th. His preop is the day before. This is his 40th surgery to repair damage done to his face just short of 18 years ago. This surgery will be a gracilis muscle transplant. It's used to restore facial movement in people with long-term facial paralysis. This has a 70% success rate. Noticeable facial movement usually takes about 6 months to show. Along with this procedure, they will debulk and manipulate the tissue and muscle in his mouth. This surgery is scheduled to start Friday morning through till Saturday. Shaun will be in the hospital for a week. He will come home with some medical needs again. We are asking for help with medical supplies and recovery needs, along with travel espenses for his many appointments he has following this. I will be staying in Rochester with him from Wednesday night till Saturday night.

We appreciate all the help and support shown to our family.
