Donation protected

We are fundraising to get the money needed to bring Rachel's Challenge to Savannah Elementary School.  Bullying is a huge problem today and this program is designed to make a positive change in our children, school and community.  Please help bring this fantastic and inspiring program to our school.

Rachael's Challenge exists to inspire, equip and empower every person to create a permanent positive culture change in their school, business and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

Rachel's Challenge Objectives for Schools:

  • Create a safe learning environment for all students by re-establishing civility and delivering proactive antidotes to school violence and bullying.
  • Improve academic achievement by engaging students' hearts, heads and hands in the learning process.
  • Provide students with social/emotional education that is culturally relevant.
  • Train adults to inspire, equip and empower students to affect permanent positive change

The purpose of the elementary programs is to encourage elementary school students to live a life of purpose, do simple acts of kindness and create a KC (Kindness and Compassion) Club to make their school a better place. There are multiple resources for teachers to sustain the impact of Rachel's stories in grades K-5 throughout the school year.

Stories from Rachel's life and adaptations of her writings exemplify her belief that small, deliberate acts of kindness could have an impact on the world and a profound effect on those around us. All topics are presented in age-appropriate positive language. The comprehensive curriculum component includes options to tailor a program to compliment the school's schedule and teaching environment.

The KC (Kindness and Compassion) Clubs for elementary students is a way to have students involved in fun, practical activities that keep students engaged in sustaining culture of kindness that is portrayed in the Link Up! assembly. The club can also be started as part of the school's implementation of the Kindness and Compassion Program Guide.

One of the main activities for all KC Club is making a chain of paper links created by the student. Each class keeps a stack of colored 1" x 8" strips of paper in a prominent location. Each time a student observes an act of kindness by another student, he or she writes that act on a strip and "links" it to the chain. The links are read weekly and student acknowledged for their efforts. At the end of the year, the teacher can have a Link Up! Party and read some of the links to remind students of how they made their school a better place during the year.
