Medical Mission Trip to Kenya

Wow, I do not know where to begin! Well, to start off: this summer I worked at an amazing Christian summer camp, where I got to serve the Lord and show his love to those around me on a daily basis! I absolutely loved it! This got me to start thinking more about going on an international mission trip (I had thought about this before, but never thought it would be something I would have the courage to do!) So, I prayed about it, talked with friends about it and more and more I was convinced that this was something I needed to do! So I searched around for different organizations that I could possibly take this trip with, I came across a few, but none that really grabbed my attention. Then I talked to one of my good friends who told me about a trip that she had taken with an organization called CERT International. CERT stands for Christian Emergency Relief Teams. This organization sends out mission teams all over the world to provide free medical and dental care, along with sharing the Bible and God's love with people who may not have otherwise known about it.

Those of you who know me, know that I have recently graduated from nursing school as an LPN. So how perfect is it that I could find an organization where I can use my medical training AND tell others about & serve Jesus! Way too often we take simple things for granted, like the fact that we have access to basic medical care! We are very fortunate for this! I have been given the chance to go and provide these basic things to people who otherwise have no access! I NEED to go and do this! I NEED to be the hands and feet of God and to "Serve the least of these"

I have been thinking and praying about what country I would travel to and take this trip. After much thought and much more prayer, I have decided that I will be joining the team that will be sent to Kenya in January! My trip will be two weeks long and during those two weeks, my other team memebers and I will provide medical care, dental care, free prescription medicine and many more things! The people of Kenya will know that we love and care for them, but most of all that God loves and cares for them!

I have already applied to be on this medical mission team and been accepted, now I just need to raise the money! The cost of the trip is 1,500 plus airfare so I am estimating a total of around 3,000. 1,500$ will cover my lodging, food, transportation in Kenya and the cost of the medical / dental supplies is divided up among the team members. The other 1,500 will be towards airfare. If I happen to raise more than my goal amount, or the airfare is cheaper than I accounted for, the remaining money will be applied toward extra supplies for the clinics we will be setting up on the trip.

I am so excited that God has presented me with this opportunity to travel to Kenya and serve him! I am saving as much money as I can to go towards the trip as well. If you can contribute any amount, no matter how much, I would greatly appreciate it!
