Linda M. Polkey Memorial Fundraiser

My name is Jennifer Rose Noyes and I want to share with you that I had the most amazing Aunt who's name was Linda Marie Polkey.  She was an amazing daughter, sister, neice, aunt, cousin, advocate, friend, and partner in crime ;)

She passed very suddenly from undiagnosed/untreated breast cancer which had spread through her entire body with all it's unwanted complications.  She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. Unfortunately, many from her community were not, and may still not know of her passing, as it was so sudden.

She owned a video store called Vacationland Video out of North Yarmouth Maine which she'd had to close in late 2014.   She was an amazing advocate for those in need under the guise of this store and she gave so much of herself to others that she often did not look out for herself.

There are so many stories of her kindness...I could be here typing forever.  My favorite are the kids with Autism/special needs (including my son Marshall) in the community that she had work or help out in the store so they could get a handle on what having a job meant, giving them direction, and giving them positive reinforcements that they could do anything they put their minds to.  The examples are endless. Literally.  Just ask any of her customers, friends, family, and strangers who were found wanting in her path :)

So...this is a notice to her friends and customers that we will be having a dinner in her memory as soon as possible and a request to save her life's work....her homestead which belonged to her beloved Father and Mother Allen and Rose Larrabee that she had struggled to keep since they passed, to pay off debts that she was worried about up to the day before she passed ~ she tried desperately to hold up to her end of the bargain with creditors.  This is also a request to raise money to put a memorial on the spot of her beloved store..a place to pass along her random acts of kindness, her words of wisdom, her kicks in the arse when needed, or just a place of quiet solitude that the community who loved her, that she gave her all to, can go to when they want to feel close to her.

I hate that she's gone and never really knew how many lives that she really touched and made better.  I have so much frustration that she struggled so in silence, financially and physically,  and never asked for help in any way...but continued to give daily of herself and gave words of encouragement to others and us til the very end.

So there it is...tip of the iceberg.  What this one small page can never convey is how much less this world is without Linda in it.

Please help us by funding the way to save her home and have a memorial space established to honor all that she gave of herself.  If we can't raise enough to save everything, we would like to be able to have the memorial spot on her store property as a priority and we, her family, will do our best to save her home.

Thank you for everything you can do, but most importantly, thank you for reading this as it means there will be one more person in the world that knows her name :)

~ please feel free to leave a message♡ it helps to read how she may have helped you or someone you know...and please pay that kindness forward and forgive any of her faults♡
