Bronx fire leaves family homeless

Donation protected
The fire is believed to have started around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday January 2nd in a furniture store in the four-story building at the corner of East Tremont Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue. The store is on the ground floor with apartments above. The FDNY said more than 200 firefighters battled the blaze. Flames and smoke could be seen pouring from the building. My grandmother, 85 years old, woke up to the smell of smoke from her room, she went to check on my disabled uncle who was awake due to same smell of smoke. My cousin who lives upstairs on the second floor came running down stairs to get my grandmother and uncle to safety.  As he himself has a wife and two small children (a 1 month old and a 7 year old whose birthday is the day after--Jan. 3rd) he had to get outside of the building. As it was surrounded by smoke the fire was rising from the furniture store below my grandmother's apartment.

She couldn't see because of how much smoke was in her house that she couldn't save her beloved cat Lolo, her dog named, Tiny and her birds.  Anyone who knows her knew that she LOVED her animals with all of her heart and to have lost them in such a tragic fire has her in a deep sorrow.  A lot of people were injured and sent to the hospital, right now she has no home to go back to or clothes to put on her back,  living in that building for over forty years with all her memories and belongings gone before her eyes-- my family is in desperate need at this time.

Please help me help them in any way and form you can. I started this gofundme page to help my family get through this tough time , it makes me very sad to see how this new year is starting out for them and I want to let them know they are not alone.

What defines us is how well we rise after falling.

If you can take a moment and put yourself in their place and feel the lost of not only the materialistic things but the lost of an animal that was part of her family, her memories of her whole life, pictures and videos that she will now only have in her heart. The feeling of regret, sorrow, sadness, emotional distress, shock, anger, depression and hopelessness. So please from the bottom of my heart help them in any way that you can. The money will go to my grandmother Inez perez and family to help them with everything they will need clothes, shoes, food, diapers, and more. The donations will be withdrawn by my sister, Lollinez Perez and given to my grandmother in cash.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story and making any donation you can is highly appreciated by me and my family.
