Mike's Med Bills

As we're sure many of you have heard, Dad's brain tumor was found May of 2004.  It has been said by many people that he is the only person they've seen that cancer actually made better.  He has seen the whole situation simply as an opportunity to speak to people he may have never had the chance to speak to otherwise.  Through his steadfast faith in the Lord, he has been a rock for the family, friends, and strangers alike.  He's also been a blessing to those at the Florida Brain Tumor Association meetings for over 8 years now.  Radiation and chemo?  No biggie:he rode a metric century while undergoing both treatments.  In recent months, the tumor has reared its ugly (trust us:we saw it) head again and it had to be removed.  After a successful surgery, which included a procedure listed as "removal of brain," he spent numerous weeks in rehab and made great strides.  His WODs included relearning how to pull up his pants on his own, walk unaided, and use his left hand to do fine motor work.  Then a month after nearly full recovery, an infection in his incision and a blood clot in his leg sent him back to the hospital, and ultimately back for multiple surgeries.  After a rough week of serious pain and recovery, he's back to rehabbing again.  Never a complaint, never a word said out of spite, just ever-thoughtfulness for others' well-being and kindness to all.  That's Dad in a nutshell.

We sure can't forget a pretty special lady who has been through a bit herself.  Mom is unlike any other and like Dad, has not uttered a single complaint throughout this whole process.  She just kept her head down and pushed through trial and tribulation with a smile on her face and the patience of a saint.  Not enough can be said about her.

The help from this site will go towards bills for the several surgeries, cross-state ambulance ride, rehab, etc.  Anything to help these two great folks move forward to full recovery and strength.  Our faith has been tested, stretched, and ultimately grown through every step of this journey.  We are a stronger family and stronger people because of it.

The great people at CrossFit Hardcore recently named a workout after Dad and held an event in his honor.  For anyone who likes a challenge and wants to get after it, here it is:

Burpees

SDHP 95#/65#

Ab mat situps

Push press 95#/65#

We can't thank you all enough for your love, prayers, and support.  Also, due to our motivation to want to do something, yet lack of creativity:Sara and I will be doing a bunch of burpees.  Every dollar donated means we get to do a burpee:because, "Everyone loves burpees!"  Yeah.  Nobody likes burpees, but hey, nobody likes getting cancer.  No complaints on how many are required, in good ol' Mike Davis fashion.   We'll post how many are done at the end of each day.  Please, don't hold back, give us all you got:we want to sweat it out the way our Dad has been and how our Savior did it.  Every penny counts and anything less than a dollar still earns us a burpee to be had.  The total is still not known, but we are hoping to reach a goal of $15,000 to cover out of pocket medical expenses.  Once that goal is crushed, we'll continue "Burpees for Brain Tumors" and donate all other proceeds to the Florida Brain Tumor Association.   It's the least we can do, to burpee in honor of those who cannot.  3, 2, 1, GO!

Jeremiah 29:11  "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,  "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
