My name is Kyle Gardner and I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at birth. I was active growing up, but as I got older my health could not keep up. I moved from Pennsylvania to Colorado on November 1, 2019 to be closer to my family. I then began a life changing CF drug called Trikafta around my 30th birthday on January 27. The improvements this drug has had on my physical and mental health have been unimaginable. Unfortunately, Trikafta does not work for every single CF patient, and not every person has access to it like I do. I would like to help more people living with CF to have access to the resources I have been lucky enough to have, by spreading awareness and raising money for CF.
In March, a good friend introduced me to hiking my first 14er. A 14er is a mountain over 14,000ft in elevation. Colorado is home to 58 14ers, many more than any other state in the country. If it was not for Trikafta, I would have never been able to summit a 14er. Now, having done a few of the 58 14ers, my goal is to summit the other 54 by November 1, 2021.
Originally I was going to do it to raise awareness for CF. I then decided to start this GoFundMe to help raise money for the climb, as well as different CF organizations. If it wasn’t for generous people donating to these organizations, drugs like Trikafta may not exist. Every dollar counts, and so many people will benefit from it. I will start with two organizations that have done so much for me over the years- CFF and PACFI. If we pass my goal of $5,000 I will pick another CF charity to donate to!
Follow my climbs on Instagram and donate $1 or more for every mountain I summit. If you know of anyone who would like to donate gear or sponsor my climbs, please direct them to me on Instagram: 14ersForCF
Thank you all!
