A new leg for Paul

This is my dad Paul. He was diagnosed with type one diabetes at a very young age. Over the years he has been affected by the serious side effects of this disease; he has lost his right eye, had a kidney transplant and lost his left leg from the knee down. In addition to this, he is immune suppressed.
Despite all the hardship, pain and sickness he continues to go through, he has always remained positive. He is kind, loving, helpful, smart and funny. He has been a loving and supportive father and has been there for the people in his community. In the past 12 years he has won multiple awards for his work as an educator within the Indiana State prison system, rehabilitating inmates by giving them the chance to earn their GED certificates.
In the past year there have been cutbacks at his work, he lost a large percentage of his yearly income and his health insurance benefits have been re-structured to the point that now my parents are having trouble making ends meet, let alone being able to pay thousands of dollars every month for diabetes and anti-rejection medication and equipment. For several months Paul has been suffering with an ill-fitting prosthetic leg device. Since he stands and walks around the prison all day, his prosthetic leg has been wearing ulcers, blisters and open sores on his amputated leg stump. This is not only painful for him, it is life threatening. Since he is immune suppressed, any infection can potential kill him. As it stands a new leg will run $12,000 and my parents will need to come up with $5000 for the copay and deductible, a sum of money that far exceeds their ability to pay.
Paul is a good man, an inspiring man, the type of person that we need more of in this world. He's someone that deserves to have a little less pain and worry in his life. I want to help him to achieve that goal through donations to this page so that he will be able to purchase that new leg. Anything you can offer will be deeply appreciated by our family.
