"Let's Help Hudson Get both

Feet on the Ground"

Hudson Townsend is an eleven year old boy facing his third operation for the correction of a birth defect known as Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency, a disorder that has caused his left leg to be  4 1./2" shorter than his right.

Prior operations have kept him in either a body cast or equipped with an External Fixator attached to his surgically broken leg. These processes were designed to limit mobility so the bones had time to develop and grow to a normal length.

Success was fleeting and disappointing.

However, Hudson is scheduled for an operation in Florida at the Paley Advanced Limb Lengthening Institute.  Doctor Paley is known internationally for his success in rectifying shortened limbs with his unique methods.  Please refer to www.paleyinstitute.org.

This first operation is scheduled for December 11, 2012 and will involve correcting his hip socket for proper placement of the femur.  Three months of healing and therapy will prepare him for the first of two leg lengthening surgeries planned for August 2013 at the Paley Institute, again requiring long stays in Florida.

Local friends and supporters have established the "Hudson Townsend Fund" to help in deferring expenses for travel, support and unexpected medical costs.

This is an outstanding young boy who has stood up bravely to adversity with the spirit and strength of a real trooper.

He maintains high grades in school, is an avid reader and was also a standout player with his Little League baseball team and active with his peers, but most impressive for his personality and positive attitude.

Meanwhile, plans are underway for a our second fundraiser to help with the large expenses expected for an extended stay in Florida and subsequent therapy and care on his return home.

We beg your generosity in contributing to this effort to raise $50,000.00 thru YouFundMe.com and participating in our second annual Pheasant Hunt and Skeet Shoot at Reehauges Pheasant Club in Norco, California on October 20, 2012.
