Ray Family Ukraine Adoption Fund

It's May 2013 and Vlad has been home with us for two and a half months. Our hearts have been tugged once again by two children from Ukraine. A 16 year old girl named Alonya and her 11 year old brother Valera.

We're told that to adopt them will cost about $33,000 because there are two of them in two different orphanages. Yes, they split them up a lot over there.

Alonya is 16 so that means in August she will be put out of the orphanage and onto the streets. Looking at that funny face I can't imagine how she is going to survive. Facts being facts, 50% of orphan children there don't live to see their 20th birthday and only 20% of them see their 24th birthday. So she has little chance of any kind of life at all. Most of them end up in a life of crime as they have no resources, no education, no skills and most of all, no family to fall back on.

Tom and I can't just sit back and do nothing. After seeing what a difference it has made in Vlad we have to do whatever we can for Alonya and Valera.
