10 marathons in 10 days

Donation protected
From 1st - 10th August 2023, I will run 10 marathons in 10 days in memory of Edie and in support of Edie's Kindness Project & RUN DIPG.

Why 10 Marathons?
Thursday 10th August 2023 would've been Edie's 10th birthday, but she is forever seven. I won't run to celebrate, I will run to mark the occasion and raise much-needed funds to help those facing the deadliest form of childhood cancer and those working tirelessly towards finding a cure.

Edie's Kindness Project:
Edie's Kindness Project was set up in memory of Edie Jackson, my niece, our beautiful Warrior Princess and the bravest girl we know, who lost her 14-month battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in January 2021 at just seven years old.

Edie's Kindness Project helps other families who find themselves faced with the difficulty and devastation of DIPG, relieving some of the financial burdens for them and trying to make things a little easier, as well as trying to make them smile – just as Edie would’ve wanted!

Edie, our Warrior Princess:
Edie was such a smiley, happy-go-lucky little girl. She loved performing, including singing and dancing. She was such a gentle soul and so kind, whether it be sharing her toys, giving away her clothes, baking her beautiful cakes and biscuits, or using her own money to buy people things, she always wanted to make others smile.

Run DIPG:
RUN DIPG is an Australian-based charity dedicated to improving outcomes for patients, families and communities impacted by the deadliest form of childhood cancer – the brainstem cancer, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), also known as diffuse midline glioma (DMG). They are committed to achieving this by raising awareness, empowering advocates and fundraising to support DMG/DIPG research

What is DIPG?
DIPG, or diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, is a type of brain tumour found in an area of the brainstem known as the pons.

The facts:
  • DIPG leaves kids mentally intact but steals essential bodily functions over time as the tumour grows, such as vision, chewing, swallowing, walking and breathing
  • Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under 10
  • DIPG has no cure
  • The median survival rate from diagnosis is 9-11 months
  • Chances of surviving two years with DIPG are less than 10%

All money raised will be split equally between Edie's Kindness Project and Run DIPG to help them continue the amazing work they do.

Thank you so much in advance for your generoisty and support!
