I have done a few smaller charity walks before, the last one being 230 miles, but this one will certainly be a challenge.
I initially started walking to help with my mental health after my husband and I miscarried our 1st baby, I have had 5 in total now. I found walking really helped my mental health. I then got thinking if I am doing all this walking, why not walk for charities.
I would like to raise money for these 5 charities, as they are all children charities, and I would like to support the children and their families through their difficult times, however big or small.
"Covex" is the closet charity to my heart. Jim Price was the Co Founder of this charity in 1998. He wanted to get aid out to Eastern European countries and to help children in Orphanages. His dream was to turn the house in Romania for somewhere carer's could bring the children for a holiday. Sadly Jim died in 2002, but Jan his partner wanted his dream to become a reality.
Due to work commitments this hasnt been possible, but Jan is now a retired nurse and would love this dream to become a reality.
"Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity".
I met some of Dame Vera Lynn's family when i had the honour of working back stage at the London Palladium for her 100th Birthday. She has an amazing charity, supporting under 5's and their families with Cerebral Palsy and other Motor learning impairments.
"Make a Wish Foundation"
This is also an amazing charity, making wishes come true, for children with critical illnesses.
Their wishes could be something small from having a ninja experience to something bigger like going to Lap Land to see Santa. The wishes that the wishgranters make is for the whole family to enjoy, and make memories.
"Great Ormond Street Hospital"
Great Ormond Street recieves over 200,000 outpatients and over 40,000 in patients every year. Most of the children they care for are referred from other hospitals, throughtout the UK and overseas. There are over 63 different clinical specialities at GOSH, the UK's widest range of specalist health services foe children. As I wanted to raise money for children's charities and my Mum was a Nurse, this is why I wanted to choose a children's hospital, and this is one amazing hospital.
"The National Deaf Children's Society"
I would like to raise money for this Charity, as this charity really supported one of my clients daughter when she was born prematurely with hearing problems. They gave the family so much help and support, whilst treating their daughter, that I wanted to add them to the 5 charities I was raising money for.
