<div><strong>What is #WeAre1924: Chapter Two?</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li>Our #WeAre1924 campaign first launched on May 26, 2024 <strong>to commemorate 100 years since the racist Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 was passed. </strong>This immigration act restricted and even outright banned immigration from non-Western European countries and explicitly promoted racial homogeneity.
</li>
<li>We feel called to grow our project to<strong> honor the voices, stories and legacies of U.S. immigrants</strong> in the face of increased stereotyping and persecution, especially under the current Administration’s hostile, punitive stance toward immigrants.
</li>
<li>We wish to capture <strong>100 portraits and 100 stories from across the U.S.</strong>, starting in regions of the country that aren’t often nationally recognized: <strong>the Southwest, the South, and the Midwest. </strong>
</li>
<li>We also wish to <strong>honor and support the activists and communities</strong> who have been tirelessly <strong>working to protect U.S. immigrants</strong> most vulnerable to discrimination and deportation,

<li><strong>Goal:</strong> Defy the pressure to hide, assimilate and stay quiet, celebrate our country’s rich diversity, and give to organizations on the front lines.

<div><strong>What We’ll Do:</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Photography &amp; Storytelling Project: </strong>In collaboration with hww.work, we will collaborate with local photographers in Phoenix, Minneapolis, St. Louis, New Orleans, and Nashville to capture a collective 100 portraits and 100 stories of U.S. immigrants of all backgrounds and generations.
</li>
<li><strong>Supporting Local Organizations:</strong> We’ll donate to local grassroots groups providing critical support and resources to immigrants in each of the five cities in our project.
</li>
<li><strong>Kickoff Cities:</strong> We’ll start our tour in Phoenix &amp; Minneapolis, with plans to expand to the remaining cities as we reach each of our fundraising tier goals. <strong>1) Phoenix: </strong>Photographer <a href="https://www.mazharbadani.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mazhar Badani</a> to support the work of <a href="https://firrp.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Florence Immigrant &amp; Refugee Rights Project</a>. <strong>2) Minneapolis: </strong>Photographer <a href="https://www.kriziastudios.com/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Krizia Gaile</a> to support the work of a local MN advocacy organization.
