Hi, as most of your know Brooke (my daughter) was Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in November 2023. This completely came out of the blue and rocked our full world. Brooke being the high spirited positive girl she is completely took it in her stride. Brooke was admitted to James Cook Hospital at her time of diagnosis and was given a wealth of knowledge and we had to be trained in carb counting, dealing with hypos, delivering insulin safely ect. It was a whole new world to us all. At diagnosis Brooke was given a Type 1 diabetes teddy bear which as still has now and I thought it was a gorgeous little touch from the hospital team.
Just over a year on since diagnosis Brooke has worked closely with the author at silver lining stories who have amazing executed the book ‘Brooke’s life with Type 1 diabetes’ it’s a children’s book which shares an insight of the struggles and new challenges of a newly diagnosed child with diabetes but allover really reflects the message of still enjoying life to the full!
The books are completed and now ready to publish!
Brooke and I have set a target of £599 which will be enough for us to buy 100 books to donate the the Children’s Diabetes Team at James Cook University Hospital to hand out for free to children newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes!
If you would like to donate we would really appreciate your support!
