10 Year Olds Never Deserve Gunshot Wounds

Donation protected
On the night of Wednesday, August 19, 2020 little Tameria was getting ready for bed. This was her normal routine inside the home of a family friend where she and 4 siblings were living temporarily for the past 3 months with their mom, Kyerra. As Tameria went to gather her pajamas and settle in for the night, she heard the sound of rapid gunfire. Unfortunately, many of those bullets hit the home while the family cowered in fear on the floors. One of those bullets struck the 10 year old, Tameria, in the back. She was rushed to the hospital. Miraculously no other family members were physically injured. But, they are all suffering with emotional trauma of that horrible night.

While the cause of the senseless shooting is still under investigation, this family is still dealing with layer upon layer of tragedy.  Tameria is stable after undergoing two surgeries, and the doctors are hopeful that none of the damages will leave her physically disabled. But since being hospitalized for the gunshot wounds little Tameria was exposed COVID-19.  The mother, who has remained at the hospital around the clock, is also quarantined there, after exposure.

Tameria is such an energetic young lady. Like every kid, she loves her TikTok and Roblox. She has the brightest smile every morning. The kind of smile that makes life feel better.

Her siblings are her best friends.  Even though she is the second oldest, she sometimes has to get her big sister in line and plays her second in command role well! They all miss their sister and mother desperately.  Like other kids their age, they should have been together planning their first day of virtual school at Hartley Elementary in a few weeks. However, they have been forced to deal with this horrible moment in their lives. A life where they have been displaced with relatives and spend sleepless nights worried about their sister. Whom they only get to communicate with through video chat.

Needless to say, if they come through this series of tragedies they will still have a long road ahead with so many unanswered questions.  Such as, why did they fall victim to unprovoked gun violence? Where will they live now? How will they pick up the pieces from a night so life-changing?

Right now, they do not have a home to live in after the hospital stay and lack some necessities to support all five children. With their permission, we are seeking support to financially help Tameria’s Mom, Kyerra O’Neal, move into safe housing. A place where she and her children can start over and regain peace of mind while Tameria and her siblings recover from the horror.

We just want to bring all of the kids and their mom some comfort.

Any and all donations, gifts, and most of all prayers are accepted and needed.

Her siblings are:

Ta’Kia Evans - age 11

Tavaris Evans - age 7

Tavorion Evans - age 6

Ta’Razia Evans - age 4
