Help save my little soldier

£626 of £1,300 goal

Raised by 31 people in 2 months

I am very grateful for every single donation as little as a few pounds, I know I’m just one of thousands of fundraisers but I’m trying to save my best friend. The main goal of this fundraiser is to raise £1300 for an MRI.

When I first picked up Patch he was a tiny 8 week old puppy. He’s one of the most intelligent and most caring dogs I’ve ever met. He loves everyone and everything (and a lot of treats!)

He’s now 5 1/2 years old. Sadly a couple of months ago he fell ill. Patch would refuse to jump or even walk, an X-ray scan showed nothing abnormal so he got diagnosed with a pulled muscle and we were sent home with pain killers. He started to improve and was able to walk again.

Sadly a couple of weeks ago he experienced a relapse. He started to sway on his back legs and refused to walk, within a few days his back legs were paralysed. I’ve seen two different vets and they have both said he will need an MRI and possibly surgery (suspected slipped disc pressing on his spine). Estimated cost £4-5k.

After spending over £1500 on Xrays, medication, laser therapy and consultation I just don’t have the funds to cover for this. An MRI scan and possible surgery is his only option of getting well again.

Please help me save my little soldier ❤️This is my last option before having to let him go. I am grateful for any donation as little as a few pounds.

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone’s support and donations. I’ve asked the vets to forward the MRI pictures so I could show them to you. As you can see on the arrow / circle there’s a mild compression to the spinal chord. Due to this compression Patch is able to walk but he is wobbly on his back legs. Even though it says that surgery is recommended we have been going the conservative route and he is still doing very well. Patch is on pain killers and resting, even though there hasn’t been an improvement in his back legs for the past few weeks he will be given more time to heal and hopefully start hydrotherapy soon. I’m still very very grateful for any donations as everything will go towards his rehabilitation ❤️

Today my vet has had a look at the MRI pictures that were taken last Friday.

Unfortunately it is IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) it’s a condition where the discs of the spinal column burst into the spinal chord.

Patch has got a mild compression on his spinal chord (Type 1). Because this is the second time it has happened there is a big chance that he requires surgery to fix it.

The MRI pictures are now being referred to a specialist that will decide whether surgery would be the best option. He’s on strict cage rest, pain killers and muscle relaxants for now.

Sadly this is all the information I have got for now, again it’s waiting and hoping for the best❤️

Please keep sharing the page

Over the past 24 hours Patch has been in a lot of pain. He keeps shivering/shaking and completely refusing to move. It’s just heartbreaking to see him like this. We are nearly half way to reaching our goal, please keep sharing.
