Sentient is a Feature film on animal rights!
There are many films, documentaries and books on animal rights but none where both Humans and animals are played by the same species. I want to show the world that we may look different on the outside but on the inside we are the same. We both hope and fear and scream and cry. The only difference is our perception.
I'm in my 3rd and final year of studying BA (Hons) in Acting for Stage and Media at Kingston college in association with UWL. For my dissertation project I have to write, direct and perform in an original performance. This feature will Air in April 2021. I will submit my feature length film into some local film festivals and premiere it in April.
Setting up a Stage & Film company and Producing a film from scratch, is big deal on any day but this global pandemic has really been harsh on the arts! Closing cinemas, theatres, cutting jobs and wages and even telling us to retrain. But we will prevail and persevere through these hard times, hopefully with little help from you.
Due to this pandemic my educational establishment can not provide the space or resources that they have promised us, this cannot be helped but does however create further challenges in completing my dissertation and creating my film.
I'm asking for your help to raise money for festival fees, props, filming and recording equipment, accommodation, travel etc. To successfully put on this film to raise awareness of animal rights.
I have been doing so much research into the abuse of animals and their lack of rights, to try and find the right story to tell and in the most effective way.
So here is little about my film: Three stories entwined. Two animal rights activists discuss society's acceptance of abuse in everyday life. Two animals from life time careers in Entertainment, talk through their their abusive backgrounds in therapy. A young animal fights for freedom as her oppressor puts her through torture.
My film is fully Cast with 10 brave students from all 3 years of my course and one graduate, showing how even in tough times we all come together to create and entertain
