I have lost my smile. It has never been a big smile, and people who know me well know about all the difficulties I have had in life. It is my dental problems taking away the last curves of my smile.
Hello! My name is Liana Paniyeva and I am a pianist. I play piano and teach piano, but most importantly I practice and play recitals. You can listen to some of my performances here https://www.youtube.com/user/lianaeteri I love what I do, even though it does not bring me much money. Playing great piano music is my passion, my life. It takes a lot of hours preparing a new piano recital program (80-90 minutes of music it is), it is not easy work but at the same time I get under the spell of music and become obsessed with the music I play. And I want to passionately continue what I’m doing!
Last December I went to a dentist, basically first time in over ten years. I've spent the last four years in constant mouth pain either from overall gum disease or the actual searing pain of infected teeth and gums. I knew I’d have bad news. The dentist said that I have an advanced periodontal disease and 100% bone loss, my teeth don't have anything to hold on and thus, I need lots of dental procedures. Since then, I underwent two surgeries, bone and gum grafts and extractions of teeth. The new bone grew up since then, which is good, and my mouth is ready for implants. The bad news is that if I don’t install implants in the next couple of months I will start losing my new bone again, and I need a lot of implants. Like most of you, I don’t have that kind of money just lying abound. As you can understand, this situation is also psychologically devastating, in addition I don’t have any family in Americas, no one close to support me.
Since I started the treatment I am able only to drink liquids and take liquified food. Being a concert pianist, touring is part of my life however it is very hard to be traveling and be able to take only liquified foods, yet I’ve done it already. I love to teach too, unfortunately my current poor pronunciation without many teeth makes it difficult to some students to understand me, but I’m hoping it is temporary.
I was looking at other options - trips out of country to other dentists, local dental schools which are cheaper. But regardless of the place and the procedures done, it all costs money, a lot of money, money I don’t have and money I can’t earn in near future.
Several friends have suggested I start this campaign. Those of you who know me know how hard this is for me. I don't know if this campaign will work and I am honestly worried about the outcome but every little bit can and will help.
