The K9 Drigon Memorial Fund
K9 Drigon bravely served the Cocoa Police Department from 1998 to 2003. Drigon and his handler formed an incredible bond as they learned and worked the streets together- Drigon was this handler’s first K9 partner.
Drigon has since passed and his handler has never forgotten the connection the team formed, nor has he forgotten the love, trust and experience he gained from their time together. Drigon was an integral part of the handler’s family, willing and able to protect his wife and children. Driggy filled many roles: a loving babysitter, a watchful defender, and a deeply valued partner. The handler’s wife, K, a devoted and invaluable partner herself, solidified the team’s bond and helped the team to exceed their goals. K nurtured and helped developed skills in both man and dog. K was Driggy’s companion and caregiver after his retirement, ensuring Drigon wanted for nothing, received all the love and attention he could want, and cared for his aches and pains as he aged. Founding member K continues to support the Handler and their family, and every K9 partner since Drigon.
The handler has continued in the K-9 unit and works to train other handlers as an instructor. This handler is dedicated to making his team and unit among the best in the county, if not the country.
The K9 Drigon Memorial Fund is a foundation that benefits Central Brevard area K9 Units and allows access high-quality, advanced training and education for all working K9 teams.
To provide the highest quality service to the citizens of Cocoa and surrounding areas, the CPD K9 Unit continuously trains for tracking and the missing, lost, injured, endangered, and those who would commit crimes and flee from justice. Patrol dogs train to apprehend violent criminals, protect and defend their handlers from attacks, detect narcotics, calm victims of crime with therapy work, and change outlooks and lives with community outreach.
Your donation to the K9 Drigon Memorial Fund is a contribution to the training, education and equipment of local police officers and their K9 partners. By attending the highest quality training and education classes, we ensure we are the best version of ourselves we can be:
For our city, for the citizens that rely on us, for the officers that trust us and our dogs in the dark of night, and to ensure that both members of the team go home safe, every day.
