This
past March I returned from what could only be described as an epic
journey to India. Soon after, I began to consider utilizing my
educational background in Eastern Religious Studies, Anthropology,
and Education to fulfill my longtime vision of bringing people
together from various parts of the globe in order to help people to
develop a deeper sense of the world through culture, spirituality,
and education. Through this vision, Contemplative Journeys, a
customized
tour that offers an immersive experience into the alluring and
dynamic world of India, was born.
The goal of Contemplative Journeys is to provide participants with the opportunity to delve into the inner-workings of India through visits to local Hindu and Buddhist temples, Mosques, Jain temples, participation and learning opportunities within local communities through unique volunteer experiences, and meeting people from the local community by way of organized meetings, lectures, and interviews. My dedication lies solely in helping people see the beauty and complexity of India through serving as a guide and drawing on my many past trips to India, and sharing my knowledge and experience of India and the multifaceted and colorful beauty that can only be found there.
My aim is to create an incredible travel experience that doesn't now exist but will if I can get to India to plan it. In order to successfully launch and organize future tours, my goal is to go on a scouting venture to India at the beginning of February, 2014 in order to connect with local organizations in the community, organize and meet with potential guest speakers, obtain information and observe and evaluate various organizations to possibly use for future tours, and connect face-to face with local religious, historical, and cultural experts. In addition, I will be meeting with Saleem Balek Trust, an organization that assists street children in Delhi, and Ladi a small organization in Jaipur that provides vocational training to abused, orphaned, and destitute children. The goal is to gain the support of like-minded organizations for future guided tours to India and to make connections for future volunteer experiences for participants.
This GoFundMe campaign is created to raise funds that will allow me to do the following:
*Travel expenses to India
*Make connections with various organizations in order to develop a curriculum to promote guest speakers and to connect with volunteer organizations within India for future trips.
*Scout locations such as schools, places of religious practice, volunteer organizations, cultural and historical locations, temples and monuments for curriculum development for future tours.
