UPDATE: ERIN'S SCOOTER FUND

Hello Folks,
I have avoided doing this for some time but find I need some help as my bills are mounting. Recently, I had a hit and run in a parking lot, which damaged my scooter, (second time that it's been hit)...and it's starting to fall apart. Medicare has a new rule that if you can't fit the scooter inside your house they won't give you a new one. My house is a small rental, and even a wheelchair (that Medicare would cover) won't fit. Besides, I'm physically unable to wheel a regular non power wheelchair anyway. The good news is a friend has an three month old scooter that she bought from a site and it's too big for her so she can't use it safely. It would be perfect for me. She's offering it to me for a great price. A deal I would be crazy to pass up.
The rest of the story:
Due to my years as a firefighter and an neck injury sustained as a hospital worker, I developed severe joint disease throughout my neck, spine, and knees. In addition, I have a rare genetic disorder that damaged my lungs and liver, as well as a pulmonary artery birth defect. I can't walk any real distance without experiencing excruciating pain, difficulty breathing, and strain on my heart. If you know me, you know I am a very out going and social person. I depend on my scooter to get out in the world and to do shopping etc. My teeth have been damaged by medicines, and I need some extensive dental work or dentures. I have over $1,500 in medical bills which I have paid down some Yet, the expensive medical procedures, visits, and tests with big copays keep mounting. I've been selling belongings to offset those bills but it isn't enough.
This is hard for me as I have always tried to maintain independence. I was a hard worker all my life until I became disabled. Unfortunately, every thing is rising in cost, and my social "insecurity" check isn't rising. Frankly, it just isn't cutting it for these urgent needs. So,I'm asking for help. Anything thing you can give would be greatly appreciated. Also for those of you who are local (Tucson), I do have some things I would give to you in exchange, or I am willing to do some trade if I can be of service in some way.
I figure if all of my friends on my lists chipped in a minimum of $5 or $10 it would be enough to keep me mobile, and give me the leg up to get this behind me. Some of you have expressed that you felt uncomfortable with using this site to send money and wish to donate directly.
