Safe-passage-fund for British Council educators

We are raising funds to help Afghan educators requiring evacuation from Afghanistan. You will have read and been deeply concerned about the plight of the many men and women who worked alongside UK education for many years in Afghanistan and who have been left behind.
From an initially small number, we are now in contact with many more who have worked in provinces throughout the country. Many have received death threats due to their work advocating for education and gender equality. At least a third are women. The majority are in hiding and in fear of their lives.
The educators we are trying to help previously worked for the British Council, a registered charity that builds connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language. They are eligible to apply for relocation to the UK under the UK Government’s ARAP scheme, but if approved must first reach neighbouring countries, and the winter will be severe. From there, they will receive official support and assistance to reach safety in the U.K. Using the funds donated so far, we recently managed to help the first few get out of Afghanistan.
Many are still hiding across Afghanistan. We are working closely with the British Council to identify and help as many people as possible. Your financial assistance will directly support them in travelling to neighbouring countries and whilst they prepare to leave. We are therefore urgently collecting funds to help them and their families.
