Expenses in Texas

In August I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, our baby girl had a few medical conditions that stopped us from not only taking her home, but holding her.

My daughter Ashton was born with spina bifida and a complex congenital heart defect. The hospitals at home didn’t feel that they were right to handle her case and we ended up being transferred to Houston, Texas. My husband and I had to leave the home we know to come be with our baby girl during her care. As her 13th week approaches, we can count the number of times that we’ve been able to hold her on both hands. With me not being home and able to work, it’s been getting more difficult to maintain ourselves. The hospital is an hour away from where we’re able to stay, parking is $12 dollars after 4 hours of visitation, and I’ve been slowly having to drain my savings to be able to take care of myself as far as my medical needs go.

Ashton has already undergone 8 surgical procedures including open heart surgery and multiple spinal repairs. With one more heart surgery to go before we’re allowed to go back to Louisiana, I’m worried these little costs will continue to add up until it’s too much. I’m asking for anything that can be spared, every little bit helps.
