Saving Monty

£9,424 of £10,000 goal

Monty is a three year old livershunt pug for which he’s had multiple surgeries for and needs constant ongoing treatment and medication.

Unfortunately this week Monty has become very poorly and today was transferred from my vets to the RVC for further investigation.  This evening his RVC vet rang to say that they had scanned him and had found that his lower intestines have twisted so will be scheduled for surgery first thing Thursday morning, unless his tummy fills up with fluid and then he will be operated on tonight.

Monty is insured for £7,500.00 worth of treatment per year and this operation has been estimated at approximately £6,000.00 but because of his ongoing treatment and medication for his livershunt and the treatment he’s alread had for this problem at our vets, his insurance is going to run out of funds.

Thank you for your help, prayers and love.

So Monty has been taken back into The RVC and they are running a barrage of tests to try and find out what is going on. They are going to repeat the bile acid test and do another test that goes along side it for liver function. They are also going to do a barium swallow test to test his oesophagus as that can have problems following his surgery they watch the liquid go down them they watch it come back up again and last but not least he’s having a scan.

Monty’s not responding as he should be, his gut is basically not working naturally. We’ve had to put him back on medication to do the work for him, hopefully resting everything, so that when we stop it again on Monday, his gut will naturally take over. Unfortunately this morning, I’ve had to give him a big dose of the lactulose syrup , to make him hopefully go to the toilet again, as he’s not been since Thursday. It seems that even the other medication isn’t working by itself either, he’s got until Tuesday/Wednesday to sort himself out or they will take him back into hospital. Thank you for all your support and prayers, I can’t tell you how much it’s appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Monty still remains quite poorly so I’ve still not been able to bring him home. Since his surgery on Thursday, he has eaten very little solid food, the little that he does eat, he brings straight back up again. Monty’s vet feels that he should stay with them until they can bring this under control. Thank you for your continued support, love and prayers.

Nikki ❤️
