Evan's Adoption

Donation protected
Welcome to this world Evan Ray Alexander. Born over a month ago on September 16th, you have been prayed for and over well before your birth. It wasn't until Tuesday evening, October 20 that we knew that you existed - and since that call, our lives will be forever changed.

Without a picture of Evan, and really no information about him, we said yes. We said yes to adoption. Yes to life. Yes to God.

Those first 2 hours after that call on Tuesday were crazy. Confidence in our selection was pretty low. Evan's birthparents had specific requirements for the adoptive family. They must have no kids, speak Spanish, and live in Texas. Well, 1 out of 3 ain't bad. Then, the agency supervising the adoption had fees that were above what we had hoped for. Really, it all seemed like we wouldn't be selected.

But God. In His perfect will - the hearts of birth mom and dad were softened to our profile. The placing agency agreed to lower their fees to accommodate us. AND, they even chose to forgo the placement and contract in our adoption agency. Unheard of. All aligned in a matter of 2 hours.

What an indescribable gift! Evan was born into this world with Down Syndrome. Our fallen world looks at this diagnosis as a disability. Which is true, he may not be able to do all the things that you and I do - but it doesn't lessen the fact that he is a gift. God knit him together exactly the way He intended.

So we welcome this precious boy into our family. #11. The joke was that we should just name him Eleven. It's a good solid number. Starts with the letter E. Perfect. But after careful consideration, we decided against. Evan is not a number. He's not a statistic. He is fearfully and wonderfully made.

This page is a petition. A request for you to participate in this gift of adoption. It's a beautiful process, but it's also hard. There is instant love, excitement and joy. But there is also loss, brokenness and heartache. There is a new child for us, but there is a loss of a child for another family. In this beauty and brokenness, you can pray. Pray that Evan would thrive in his new home. Pray that he would attach to his new mom and dad. Pray that he would fall in love with each new brother and sister. Also pray for the birth family. That they would find comfort in their decision and that they would find peace that only comes from our Savior, Jesus. Pray that they would not fall under attack, but be supported in this difficult decision they have made. We also hope that you would pray Ephesians 3:20-21 over this entire adoption. To God be the glory.

Finally, we ask that you prayerfully consider giving financially. As you know, adoption is costly. Even though we were able to negotiate the placement fees down, they still exist. To be completely transparent, our placement fees were $10,000. We will have an additional cost in post placement visits ($1500) and finalization($1,000-$2000) that will bring the total to roughly $13,000. Anything you give will be graciously received. After all, the name Evan is rooted from the name John, meaning YHWY is gracious.

We can't wait for you to meet this beautiful boy.
