Evan's Puppy Fundraiser!

Spende geschützt

Evan is a loving teenager with Autism and several other conditions. He's been through a lot.
This year our buddy’s turning 18, and normally this would be his “senior” year - the year a typical teen of his age would be excited about senior proms, graduating high school and heading on to college, a year abroad, or some other life choice.
But like numerous kids with Autism, things have not gone in that direction for Evan.

One thing’s for sure, though, and that is, that Evan LOVES dogs! Not only has Evan worked with several therapy dogs at school over the years; he’s also befriended several in his neighborhood and many at the local shelter, too! He loves reading to them, walking them, comforting them, and he’s even mentioned the exciting possibility of someday starting his own line of retail dog merchandise (he's interested in business retail and entrepreneurship and he volunteers at his school store.) Evan also enjoys watching shows where dogs do acrobatic tricks, and Thanksgiving at our place wouldn't be Thanksgiving without our tradition of watching The National Dog Show!

Mom wants to give Evan his dream come true this year: his very own loving puppy and therapy animal to love. The only problem is that he has severe dander allergies to some breeds, so we're going in favor of a “hypo-allergenic” breed.
Mom has taken Evan to play with a number of breeds, and has discovered that he gets along very very well with several specific breeds, such as the Bichon Frise, Poochon and other breeds with hair rather than fur. Evan has fallen in love with these little critters!

As we’ve discovered, though, the cost and initial fees for welcoming this sort of puppy home from a reputable breeder are very high. The average cost for the puppy alone is $1300.00 to $1700.00!

That’s where your donation would be so greatly appreciated: to help with the expensive cost of the puppy and for start-up costs of a crate, gate, pads, shots, micro chipping, neutering or spaying, food, bowls, a leash, grooming tools and shampoo, etc.

We will also be looking into dog obedience training and therapy dog certification.

Your donation would mean so much!

Kids with autism often find it hard to establish social bonds with other people, and often don’t have many, (if any) friends because the typical kids and adults around them seldom invest time and effort into getting to know them. Our kids with Special Needs often lack meaningful, long-lasting connections with others.  And Ev is an only child, and thus doesn’t have a brother or sister for companionship either. So your help to get Evan on his path to becoming a responsible, sociable, gentle, loving and affectionate young man with his dog at his side would be so appreciated.

You’ll be making one boy’s very special dream come true! And finding a forever home for that one special puppy who is waiting and ready to be his friend!
