Evan and Mason's Holiday Hustle

Donation protected
Hello everyone! We really appreciate that you want to help us take on the Holiday Hustle challenge!

Realizing some of you may not know both of us, here is a small introduction that explains who we are:

We have been friends for a few years, and we have made somewhat of a name for ourselves as the ones who go off and do crazy workouts and adventures together. Our latest adventure was a 127-mile bike ride! Evan is studying Physics at Purdue University's Honors College, and Mason is studying Public Policy and Development with an emphasis on Healthcare Policy and Management at the University of Southern California. We both went to La Jolla high school where Evan founded the Friends Of The Amazon club (FOTA).

Why are we doing the Holiday Hustle?

We decided that rather than receive gifts this year, we want to raise money to support those who are less fortunate. Specifically, we want to raise money for Project Amazonas, a 501(c)(3) corporation that supports isolated communities in the Amazonian rainforest. Last year, Evan's club, FOTA, worked closely with this organization. The projects that your donation would support include, but are not limited to, providing medical services, providing medical equipment, donating school supplies and promoting conservation of the Amazonian rainforest. This organization is perfect for you if you care about health, education, the environment or any of the numerous other causes they support! All of these services and materials go toward helping these underserved Amazonian communities. If you would like to learn more about this organization, please contact Evan or go to Project Amazona's website.

Now, what is the Holiday Hustle?

It's a rigorous 100+ mile race that will last 24 hours and will be completed with no sleeping. Only us two will be racing. We are the sole organizers and participants. We will stay together for the entirety of the course.

The first section is a 1.5-mile swim from La Jolla Cove to Scripps Pier. Approx. 8am-10am

Immediately following the swim is a half marathon (13.1 miles) run. Approx. 10:15am- 2:30pm

Immediately after the run, there will be a bike ride that will fill the remaining time in the 24-hour time frame. This section is expected to surpass 100 miles. Approx. 3:00pm-8am.

There will be 500 pushups scattered throughout.

How to donate to the Holiday Hustle. (Thank you again!)

There are 3 options:

1. Donate a single amount (ie. $5, $10, $20) to support our swimming and running portions. The swim is 1.5 miles. The run is a half marathon (13.1 miles).

2. Sponsor our bike ride per mile (ie. 10 cents, 50 cents or 75 cents per mile). This will require a donation after the event, which will begin on December 21st and finish on December 22nd. We expect anywhere between 100 and 150 miles will be completed. We need confirmation of how much you will be donating per mile before the holiday hustle (a text or email will do). Mileage will be based on how many miles we complete after 24 hours or after we can no longer proceed due to exhaustion or medical problems.

3. Do both! Donate a single amount before the race, and then confirm with one of us that you will be sponsoring the bike ride for a certain amount that will be paid after the race.

Last Words And A Few Heads-Ups

Your donation to this gofundme page will go to Evan and I directly, and then we will donate the raised funds to Project Amazonas in the form of a single check. Please remember this page is only meant to be a donation option for people who can only donate with a credit card. Other ways to donate include any mailed check, cash or Venmo.

We deeply appreciate your support. This event has been in the works for a few months, and we are both excited to finally get after it!

Happy Holidays!
