Liz's Future Medical Fund
Donation protected
For those who don't know, my cousin Liz was rushed to hospital with acute sceptic shock five weeks ago that left her fighting for her life.
Her survival has amazed the doctors, as has her strength through recovery. But the infection has left her with life-changing injuries to her arms and legs, requiring surgery that will result in severe and permanent disabilites.
This tragic development has had and will continue to have huge consequences for Liz and her family. Liz’s husband Christoph was forced to resign from his job as an academic archaeologist in Berlin to assume care responsibilities for both Liz and their one-year old son Emeran. It is unclear yet what effect this will have on Liz’s career as an academic Egyptologist.
Their family life has been profoundly disrupted. When she is discharged they will be forced to move out of their Oxford home, and will need to find housing that is suitable for her disabilities. Liz does not have private insurance and although the NHS care has been amazing, we want to ensure she has the best prosthetics, the best medical support and that she, Christoph and baby Emeran don't have to struggle too much financially going forward.
Therefore I am starting a Future Fund for them and would be so grateful if family, friends or anyone was willing to donate.
Although Liz is lucky to be alive, she has a long and very tough road ahead so anything you can do to help, no matter how big or small, would be amazing.
Thank you!
