Minerva’s Story
Minerva Figueroa is a compassionate being that has worked to help others her whole life, serving her community in a way to support mind, body and soul support and quality care! Donating her healing services to hundreds of people in Waukesha & Milwaukee County (through Stillwaters, Angels Grace, Tricia’s Troops, Casa Romero, The Healing Center, Suicide Prevention, Retreats, hospitals, in home care, Rogers Memorial Hospital, The Woman's Center, Churches, and so much more), Minerva has helped many adults and children find much needed pain relief, peace and hope for the entire family. Though she does charge for her services through her business, she has never turned down individuals and families in the area who needed cancer pain relief, many times receiving a fraction or no reimbursement for her work. Tricia’s Troops Cancer Connection recognized Minerva for her work in Waukesha County as she has been an advocate for the chronically ill and dying of all ages, but children have a special place in her heart. She is always grateful to provide relief and change lives, and feels blessed and honored to serve them.

Overcoming many obstacles in her life, she has obtained many tools with which to help others who may have spiritual, emotional and physical issues. By offering empathy and compassion with her services as well as non-judgment, Minerva has helped many on such a deep level that their lives havechanged and there is a positive ripple effect with their families as well. For Minerva, there is no question of whether or not to help; as she reads the gratitude cards and looks at pictures of patients and families that decorate her home, Minerva’s passion to serve is fueled by those changed lives.

Her home and land has been a place where people can come for her services and leave feeling replenished in mind, body, soul and spirit. Minerva has held many small group retreats in collaboration with many organizations to feed humanity on a mind, body and spiritual level. Her vision has always been to create a safe, tranquil environment that promotes wellness and facilitates healing. For years she designed and worked towards building a wellness center that could serve as a sanctuary with no ties, open to all organizations and all religions to provide a safe place for people and groups to come and heal!

On May 19, 2015, Minerva had a devastating fire in her home which destroyed. Minerva could have rebuilt her home, but her ministry is so important to her that she altered her garage and plans for a wellness center area to include a small living space above the healing center so she could build a santuary for humanity. Minerva placed her dream on hold of building a small cabin of her own to live in, to save funds so that the sanctuary for others could be completed.

Minerva’s vision for the sanctuary is that it will serve smaller groups of under 20, and can accommodate multiple groups using the land and center at the same time. Working in tandem with other organizations and teams of healers, the sanctuary will offer ten acres of riverfront, meditation and walking trails/ labyrinths. Healers she has worked with in the past and will in the future include medical doctors, psychologist, psychotherapists, social workers, spiritual leaders, energy workers, body workers, yoga, martial arts instructors, acupuncturists, chiropractors, grief work, breath work and so much more. The center and land is vital to the well being and humanity of the community!

Costs have been higher than anticipated with the fire restoration, demolition, living expenses along with altering the garage into the healing center, temporary home, loss of income due to fire. Even though Minerva reused windows from the old house and shopped for the lowest cost for many of the building supplies, there were surprises in construction. Investing all that was given to her by the insurance company to ensure her dreams of helping humanity, Minerva still owes contractors $50,000. Retreats are scheduled for April and the center still has much to be done, such as bathroom and kitchen completion, plumbing, electrical, flooring and finish work. Landscaping, including memorial area, would benefit the sanctuary greatly. Minerva will need a sidewalk, concrete slab for the garage/conference center that will be built when funds become available. Most important to Minerva is paying the contractors that have done work in good faith. She also needs a place to live at some point to create an overnight retreat experience for survivors, as she put all of the money for the house into building the healing center she and her son will live upstairs until funds become available to build a small cabin. In total, Minerva needs to raise $150,00 to complete the entire project and make it functional for multi purpose use!

What can we do? You can help by supporting the healing center financially! If you want to pay it forward, you can designate your funds to support others through sponsoring a retreat, an individual, making a memorial or you can create an event that's is indicative for healing.

Minerva’s purpose is greater than one can imagine, because she has work to do! Her commitment is to continue to offer a sanctuary for people to come and heal. She always wants a safe place for people to work together towards wholeness. Within this center, people can come together and work as a team to bring wholeness to our area! Minerva’s vision is that with God’s help, everything is possible to make the healing center a realityand to help others reconnect with themselves, the Holy Spirit and their higher self.
