Etta Power

Last December Etta Grace Horne, daughter of Joel and Ashlea (Stutler) Horne, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She has since been through countless procedures for which she has shown great courage and strength. (Each of the beads in the photo below represent some procedure she has endured in the last 8 months.) Unfortunately, Etta's body has not responded to the  treatment(s) that she has received so far. The doctors are now moving forward with CAR-T therapy.

CAR-T therapy is an amazing procedure that sounds like it is straight out of a sci-fi movie. Etta traveled to Philadelphia to have her T cells harvested. They are now reprogramming those cells using an inactive virus. The T cells are genetically encoded to recognize cancer cells and once placed back in her body, they will attack and kill the cancer cells inside of her. Etta and her family will be in Philadelphia for six weeks due to this procedure.

Every donation is extremely helpful to Etta and her family because of the long absences from consistent work for Etta's parents and accruing medical / travel expenses. The family has been blessed in so many ways by so many people and it is hard to find words to express how grateful we are for everyones support.
