Ethan Brewer’s Eagle Scout Project

Donation protected
My name is Ethan Brewer, 14 year old freshman at Oakwood High School.  I am a Life Scout with Troop 40.  I have been a scout since Tiger (first grade).  During my time in scouting, I have attended National Jamboree, went to Sea Base in Florida, attended summer camp every year, as well as attended and staffed National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).  This year I am a Counselor- In- Training at our local Scout Camp- Camp Drake.  To become an Eagle Scout, you must display leadership through a project that benefits the community.  For my Eagle Scout Project, I am building a learning pavilion at Oakwood Grade School.

This learning pavilion will be a 20'x24' closed top, open wall structure with 3 heavy duty picnic tables for classes to be held.  Along with providing an outdoor location for classes this building will also be able to be used as a place for shade at the playground.   Being a student at Oakwood Grade School, my teachers were always looking for ways to teach us outside the 4 walls of our classroom.  They wanted us to always see that things could be done in different ways.  In talking to many of the teachers, they would love to have an opportunity to get the kids out and moving for classes.   This project would provide that for them.

I have found that the most expensive part of this project will be the purchasing of the heavy duty picnic tables.  I want to get the heavy duty ones so they hold up over time and cant be destroyed due to weather or vandalism.  The overall cost of this project is $3,500  to purchase all building supplies and the picnic tables.

100% of all funds raised will be spent on materials for this pavilion.

My fellow scouts, friends, adult scout leaders and family members will also be helping me complete this project by volunteering their time and expertise.  I would like to give a big thank you to Mr. Siddens (Oakwood Unit 76 Building Services) for his help and guidance for this project. My goal is for this project to be completed by the start of the 2020-21 school year, but if I am able to get the fund raising completed sooner I would love to begin this summer.
