Escape from Hurricane Maria

Amy Stehli Koch and her husband Jason Koch just moved to St. Thomas in May 2017. With the recent devastation that Hurricane Irma brought to their new island home, they have been desperately trying to get back to Kansas City before Hurricane Maria hits. The original purpose of this GoFundMe page was to help get a private jet out to them to bring them back to safety. That plan unfortunately fell through due to the inability to get FAA approval on a flight plan.

Now riding out Hurricane Maria with no power, or running water we ask for prayers not only for them but everyone in her path. They do have food, water and shelter, which is certainly more fortunate than many others on the island. Having witnessed firsthand the pain and suffering of so many on the island, Amy and Jason want to be able to help rebuild the community they now call home.

We thank everyone for all the generous donations thus far and hope that more come in. Please know that when they get back to Kansas City after Maria passes, they will be using all funds raised here to help with care packages and supplies for as many people as possible in St. Thomas.
