Emergency Car Fund

This is my good friend Mickie Brown, he is 64 years old. He lives in Northwest Ohio with his younger sister Susie. They are modest folks who have fallen on hard times. I have known them a long time and they have never had much money, not by choice, but by circumstance. They have always just barely gotten by. Mickie has some ongoing health issues which is making their financial situation much worse. Mickie is quite ill with several different health problems. He has been diagnosed with diverticulosis. It is a condition of the colon which causes continued bleeding, infection and great pain. The doctors have said that this is a precursor to cancer. He also has a condition know as Intussusception. This is where the small intestine slips inside the large intestine which prevents food and fluid from passing through and cuts of the blood supply to that portion of the bowel which can lead to a tear in the bowel tissue, serious infection and death of surrounding tissue. this condition is quite painful. Mickie also has chronic kidney stones which are extremely painful. and it had been discovered that he has a cyst on his left kidney which is being tested for cancer. All these things which are quite painful and expensive to treat on a limited income are not the reason for the need of funds. Their only hardly dependable car has breathed it's last, and with both of them on disability, their limited income is not enough to secure the transportation they desperately need, as they live miles from the nearest grocery store and an even greater distance to the many doctors' offices that Mickie must travel to frequently and public transportation is not an option in their rural area. The mechanic has deemed the car 'unfixable'. They printed out a large list of things that are wrong with it that would amount to a far greater sum than they have to pay for it, aside from the fact that according to the mechanic it is not a car worth putting that much money into. They have gone to numerous banks in hopes of securing a loan, but no bank will extend them credit since they have no credit history established. Even if they could secure a loan they could not afford such a payment anyway. Everything they have, they have purchased using cash from their very limited income. They have sought the help of local churches and charities which have all politely told them that they are "not in a position to help" them and have turned them away. I suggested that they seek the help and kindness of strangers on Go Fund Me and have set up this page for them. I am hoping to raise enough funds for them to purchase a decent operating used car for around 5,000 dollars which seems to be the going rate for something that will get them where they need to go without breaking down or needing costly repairs that they cannot afford in their situation. I am hoping to raise the funds as soon as possible as they have to rely on the kindness of friends to take them where they need to go until then.
