My 8 month old son, Ian, is beautiful and amazingly healthy. His pediatrician, who is a very well known and highly respected MD in our city follows a delayed immunization schedule because she has found in her 30+ years of experience that following the suggested CDC schedule leads to extremely adverse reactions in many cases.
His father has filed a petition with the court to have all medical rights taken away from me on the grounds that he believes I am endangering our child by following the advice of our doctor. He plans to have him immediately overloaded with all of the vaccinations he has "missed" according to the CDC schedule. To date, our child has had zero health issues and continues to grow in the 75th percentile and has been advanced in many milestones thus far.
We have been involved in this court case since January of this year, since my son was only a few weeks old. I am a single mom, and was a full time student, but recently had to quit school in order to work to pay legal fees. To date, I have paid approximately $6000 in legal fees (and some medical bills that his father refuses to contribute to). We have yet to even reach a trial date, so many more legal fees are on the way.
I am looking for support from anyone who believes in the freedom to parent according to what you believe to be the safest for your child. I have tried to reach compromises with his father and offered to find a middle ground, but he refuses. I am trying to be the best mother I can to my son and co-parent as much as possible with his father, but I am truly distraught at the potential that my rights will be taken from me and my son will be endangered by far too many injections.
Please help support Ian's health and wellbeing and my rights as a mother. I cannot stress enough how much I will appreciate any and all support we can get. Thank you so much.
