In the memory of Erik Jacobs

Donation protected
I cannot name anyone who doesn’t love Erik Jacobs after meeting him.  He is a dedicated father, a loving husband, and as kind as anyone you will meet.  He is always quick to reach out a hand or deliver a kind word.  He is the original “good guy”, hard working, honest, respectful of others, unassuming, and fun loving.  Above all, he is a man who has dedicated his life to his family and his community.  Erik has a wonderful wife, Teresa and two beautiful children, Erik 12 and Sadie 10, and 3 beautiful adult daughters, who work and attend school in Florida, Andrea, Erika, and Lauren.  Erik has been the bread winner for his family since little Erik was born.  Teresa has spent her time volunteering while raising their wonderful children.  Teresa now works for United Way and struggles between working her job, caring for their children and now caring for her husband.

Erik has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and his battle has already begun.  He is far too young to be dealing with this and like all cancer diagnoses this one is very unfair. He has no vices to speak of, he stays active, and he loves martial arts.  He is fit and has always strived to live a healthy lifestyle. This dreaded and painful disease is attacking his bone tissue and prostate.  He is at risk of bone fractures each morning he gets up.  While we take our mobility for granted, Erik pays the price for each painful body movement throughout the day.  Staying mobile is now a strategy for him to master rather than a natural human process.  Anyone who’s been touched by cancer knows how hard and costly this can be.  However, Erik is a very strong man and he in no way shies away from a challenge. He will face this head on, if only to gain a small amount of time with his wife and children.

We know Erik will always try to stay positive because that is his character but life has thrown him a huge burden.  I ask anyone who knows and loves Erik to please help him in his battle.  We can show him that all his efforts in life and the love and kindness he’s shown to others has been noticed and appreciated.  Anything you give will go directly to his treatment and to his family.  Drops of water fill a bucket and all gifts, no matter how large or small, will help this wonderful man and give him the peace of mind that his children will have the life they deserve and the life he intended them to have.
