My husband, Johnathan, and I were married on October 10, 2015. We knew we wanted to start a family right away, but after a full year of trying to conceive with no luck, we decided to seek medical advice.
On December 6, 2016, I visited a doctor who suspected I may have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and performed an ultrasound. A suspicious "mass" was found on the ultrasound and an MRI was scheduled for later that month.
On the evening of December 7, 2016, the night after my initial ultrasound, I fainted at home and had some lower abdominal pain. I spent the night in the ER and hospital before they realized the next morning that the "mass" they saw in my ultrasound was an ectopic pregnancy. The pregnancy had ruptured my fallopian tube and I was bleeding heavily internally. I was taken by ambulance to Mayo in LaCrosse, WI for emergency surgery.
During surgery, they were unable to save my right fallopian tube that had ruptured and it was also discovered that I was born without my left fallopian tube. In the matter of time it took for my surgery, I went from being pregnant, to being infertile. Shortly after surgery, we were told that our only option for conceiving a child of our own, was IVF.
IVF is a very expensive medical procedure that requires a lot of time off work and a lot of money up front, as many insurance plans (including ours) do not provide any coverage for infertility-related services. We are hoping to raise funds to help pay for IVF and help out with some of the large bills from December.
Any donation would help tremendously and would be so greatly appreciated. Our hearts are bursting with love and we are hoping that IVF and our little angel above will answer all of our prayers.
