Where to start...

For those that don't know me, I'm a single mother of three and an animal rescuer.  I work as a Vet Tech/Receptionist at a local vet hospital. I went to school to be a Lab Tech, but animals are my passion. I've spent the last 10+ years in rescue. I've volunteered, and worked for, my area animal shelters and the local spay/neuter clinic. I even spent 3 days in jail to save my three pit bulls from euthanasia.

For those that do know me, you know I will spend my last dime to care for an animal in need, but leave myself sick, hurting, and down before going to the doctor for anything. I've driven my car on fumes to get a dog to the clinic for a spay or transported to their new beginnings.

I'm a very proud individual when it comes to asking for anything from anyone for myself. I'll beg on street corners for my children or a pet in need, but not myself.
I've thought about this for the last couple weeks and I can't do this alone. I have previously had cervical cancer. I make and keep my appointments to make sure it hasn't come back.  At the first of the month I had my appointment and they were concerned with their findings. They've scheduled me for surgery and biopsy at UVA. My insurance isn't covering a large portion of this. I started to just say forget it. Let it be what it will be. Rather than ask for assistance let whatever happens happen. But... what about my children? What about the animals in my care? Where will that leave them if there's not a good outcome? So I'm asking. Will you help share my request?
