Helping Howie

At the end of December, Boulder High School teacher Jeff Howenstein became suddenly ill and was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer. “Howie”, a much loved BVSD teacher known for his generosity and energy, has been teaching social studies for the last 26 years. With little expertise for treating this cancer in Colorado, Howie and his wife Wendy have gone to Houston where he has been accepted into a clinical trial directed by one of the world foremost experts in this form of lymphoma at the hospital MD Anderson. The advanced treatment will involve extended stays in Houston and has put quite a financial burden on the Howenstein family.  We are hoping that you will be able to help them at this difficult time.
